Hola! Welcome to NoHostBar…it started out where Bridget Jones meets Sex and the City – but in small town USA and without the fabulous clothes with lots of sports and cocktails and ended up in a cross between the old Diane Keaton flick, Baby Boom and Knocked Up.
This blog used to be my take on life, love, family, friends, sex, dating, marriage, divorce, work, (and did I mention sex?) and whatever else struck my fancy in the day to day hilarity that we call life. NOW…it’s about being a full-time, working, single mom with the absolute cutest baby in the whole world.
Did I mention that I thought I was infertile and tried for years to get pregnant in my married tenure? That’s what makes this such a miracle blessing. SJ is the sweetest, smartest baby and she is just like me when I was a baby.
So where did NoHostBar come from? For me, it kind of mimics life. Think about it, you go to a party with an open bar and designated driver and the next thing you know you’re either making an ass out of yourself or heaving your guts out. (Who me? Never! Yeah right). On the other hand, if you see No Host Bar on the invite, you think, well it’s OK, would have been nice if it was free, but it will still be fun. I have a tendency to maintain a little better when it hit’s the old pocketbook and then not be hungover for two days. Compare that to life – I think people that get everything handed to them and don’t have to work for anything don’t appreciate stuff as much as those of us that have had to work for things. I still get totally excited about a good deal! Don’t get me wrong, if it’s free, it’s me, but I think you get my drift. It’s even fitting now that I’m a mom…no child support, doing it on my own, but I wouldn’t trade a thing.
My philosophy is pretty simple…life is what you make of it, what comes around goes around (Karma baby), and if life hands you lemons, add vodka and have a party!
In case you are wondering, some of the players will remain nameless to protect the guilty…
