My friend Rob told me about this show on regular tv called Swingtown. Haven’t seen it yet, but it’s about a group of couples in the 70’s that are into swinging, and I’m not talking square dancing! Which brings me to my story.
Apparently there’s a Boise rumor, or perhaps legend, out there about a certain development that is into this sort of couple-swapping activity. You know, it’s one of those gated communities that has a really innocous name – Shady Lanes, Whispering Pines, Hidden Springs – something like that.
Now, no one really knows if this is true, but the story goes that if you’re interested in a little suarey for the evening, you shop at a certain Albertsons, wear a cross necklace and put a pineapple in the front basket of your cart. This is the secret ‘code’. I couldn’t find anything to verify the local lore, but Google had some interesting links about the self-named ‘colony’. http://www.couplestouch.com/swingers/city/Idaho/Hidden_Springs.aspx
Anyhoo – on my recent trip to LesBois, I had to make a store run to get some ice. I was definitely checking around for signs and thought for sure that the couple I saw chatting with another lady was shopping for more than a loaf of bread. Imagine my disappointment to find out when I got back that the location I went to wasn’t ‘the one’. Oh well, maybe next time, I really wanted to say I’d had a ’swinger sighting’.
